As many of our forums users are aware, our Zimbra vBulletin forum (zimbra.com/forums) was closed down recently. We greatly apologize to our members for this downtime. We know that, especially for our open source development community, these forums are a valuable resource for advice and information.
To resolve the issue as quickly as we can, we are moving the forums from Vbulletin to the main Zimbra community at community.zimbra.com. The process will take us about a week. In the meanwhile, we have moved all of the forum user profiles over to our main community and have invited them into a temporary forums space where members can open up new discussions about our Zimbra Collaboration and open source products. Once all the data and discussions are migrated to the new space, we’ll move these members and the new discussions into the appropriate forum sections.
Here’s the timeline:
- Zimbra forums members will be migrated starting tonight through the end of Saturday. Each member will receive a welcome email letting them know they are now members of the main Zimbra community at community.zimbra.com.
- The members will be provided links to the new community space, as well as instructional content, including rules and guidelines for those new to the forums.
- Next week, our community management team will be answering questions and helping to guide these new users in the new space.
- Monday, Sept. 22, we will open up the new forums with all of the old forum data and discussions in place.
Forums members, this weekend, please check your inboxes for an email with the subject line, “Welcome to the community at Zimbra!” It will contain the information you need to get started using the new community forums space.
This should not affect the community experience for our current community members.
Thank you to all of our community members for your patience and understanding. I’m looking forward to chatting with you in our new forums!
Can you please make sure the reset password funtion gets restored at gallery.zimbra.com
It also uses the old forum, I know I cannot access my account there.
Barry
Hi Barry. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. My apologies for the trouble. I will ask our team work on a solution for this as soon as possible.
I understand that you HAD to migrate, since you offer your own community software you cant use the vbulletin anymore. this is understandable.
still here is the thing, its an aweful expierence.
sorry to be so harsh, but why did nobody though about usability instead of design?
.
The design makes it really hard to work with.
zimbra forums are not just a tiny little messageexchange, its a workboard for many people here,
not only support, but also tracing bugs (BEVORE they get into bugzilla), developing addons and best practises, exchanging scripts and workarounds.
we need more overview, right now this simplistic design might be look pretty but it lacks over overview and clearance – whats is where and what.
also the letters are too big, i cant have to to adjust my browser zoom all the time,
please make a clear structure, for example when you look at forums overview – you have an endless row of titels they look like one row instead of different chapters
the letters are too big so they are often more than one line and the seperators are almost invisible.
of course i can find things, but its inconvinient, you need to focus more, read one by one,.. its exhausting
way smaller letters, darker seperators, alternating light background would help here a lot.
also separate it from the borders, right now its an endless see of white in the middle a lot of big letters…
the same goes for the threat view but even worse, please seperate it from the borders right and left, but also seperate each post and seperate the controls more
an please please please, add some classic forums features we are so used to:
#1 ability to see in the userprofile all his posts
#2 newest posts overall
#3 a notification on the board of threats youre folloing and theres something new
i dont think its so bad, but the design part really makes the apearance that it can do almost nothing, it really takes time to dig in to see that many feature are there but you just didnt see them.
i understand that you want a coporate design, but really these forums are more a working tool not a representing marketing catalog.
please do not forget the majority here is at least above average users but mostly specialists. we dont need simple we need tools:)
please please pretty please :))
This is the poorest layout for a forum EVER! I believe this to be a step backwards…
The layout ‘might’ be new, but the search functions and more is totally un-intuitive. I also believe this a degradation of technologies and shows the direction the company has taken. (as a ps: What happened to Bill?)
Time to start looking at alternative solutions…
Again, a company taken over by designers and you get a toy instead of a tool!
Bring the forum’s back! You are going to loose customers due to this poor design…
(AND I am on my way out…)
