Last week, I described the Downloader Zimlet, created by Zimbra Gold Partner ilger.com. This week, the focus is on their Downloader PDF Zimlet.

What is the difference, you ask? The Downloader PDF Zimlet will export any email from Zimbra into PDF format. The Downloader Zimlet exports emails, contacts, calendar appointments, tasks, etc. from email onto your computer.

The Downloader PDF Zimlet is designed specifically for users who want to make the most of the portability and features that have made PDF one of the most widely used interchange formats. As a cross-platform format that is independent of software, hardware and PC operating systems, PDF is universally recognized as the most widely used file format in the world for presentations and documents in general.

The main advantage of the Downloader PDF Zimlet compared with many similar tools available online is that it converts code into PDF format, while preserving the structure of text, images and links. It doesn’t simply render the content of the email as an image, as is commonly the case.

The only requirement for the Downloader PDF Zimlet is that the HTML and CSS code in the email must be formatted correctly.

These are some features of documents exported with Downloader PDF:

– Company logo in the upper left corner, to brand the document.
– User name and creation date in the top right corner.
– Customizable document width for optimal document export.
– Export supported in email and search view.
– License: The Zimlet is distributed by means of annual domain or multidomain licences, depending on requirements.
