What’s New
Modern Web App
Ignite End-User Features
Spy Tracker Blocker
Zimbra now automatically blocks spy trackers in emails to protect user privacy. Common trackers like invisible 1×1 pixel images and tracking links are detected and blocked without affecting email content or valid images. Users are notified when tracking attempts are blocked.
Session Timeout Alerts
Improved the idle session management with a Session Timeout Alert, notifying users before they’re automatically logged out, preventing loss of work during idle sessions.
Restricted Sharing Mode
This feature provides administrators with the ability to restrict users from capturing screenshots or sharing sensitive information within Zimbra Desktop App. When enabled, screenshot attempts are blocked, and users receive a notification.
Auto-Update Zimbra Desktop
Zimbra Desktop App now supports Auto-Update, ensuring seamless access to the latest features and security updates without hassles of downloading and installation.
New Zimbra Chat
This is a secure, real-time messaging solution integrated into the Zimbra Collaboration, designed to enhance team communication while adhering to Zimbra’s core principles of privacy, data sovereignty, and user control. This chat feature is offered in two distinct variants: Basic Chat and Advanced Chat. Both variants are integrated directly into Zimbra’s Modern Web Client (Modern UI) and support secure on-premises deployment.
Fixed Issues
Zimbra Collaboration
Zimbra Ubuntu packaging GPG key
Updated the expired Zimbra Ubuntu packaging GPG key and uploaded it to keyserver. Customers must fetch the new key before upgrading to a new version.
Send Later to restricted Distribution List
Emails scheduled using the “Send Later” option weren’t being delivered to restricted Distribution Lists even for allowed senders. After the fix, scheduled emails are now sent correctly while still following DL restrictions.
Backup & Restore
Backup performance improvement
Slowness is observed in backup speed when the users data is on external storage. Introduced a new localconfig attribute to enable parallel processing of the data and it resulted in improvement of backup speed by over 70% for S3.
zmmboxmove
Fixed an issue where zmmboxmove operations would fail when migrating mailboxes larger than 2 GB from S3-backed storage to block storage.
Data integrity fix in backup
When restoring users whose data resided on S3 storage when it was backed up, the blobs were restored to incorrect paths and displayed “missing blobs” errors when viewing emails in Web App. The issue has been fixed and the blobs now restore to their correct locations, ensuring data integrity after a successful restore.
EWS & ActiveSync
Fixed an issue where deleted appointments in Outlook keep attempting to resync, causing a “Could not synchronize record” error.
Fixed an issue where iPhone connected to Zimbra Server via EAS 16.1 repeatedly sent duplicate appointment acceptances.
Modern Web App
Sharing Briefcase
External users can now view shared Mail, Calendar, and Briefcase folders upon logging into their Zimbra accounts.
Replying with Persona
Replies to emails now automatically use the selected persona by the user, rather than defaulting to the primary one.
Zimbra Connector for Outlook
Send as a distribution list
The SendAsDistList functionality in outlook has been improved. Users with the correct permissions can now send emails using a distribution list as the sender without errors.
Inline attachments
The issue where inline attachments in meeting invites sent from outlook app appeared as an empty rectangle or an incorrect message in web mail has been fixed. The inline images are properly displayed in the Web App.
Licensing
Saving offline activated product version
Fixed an issue where offline activations were not saving the activated product version in LDS while running the command “zmlicense -p”.
False usage limit exceeded alert
Fixed an issue where the grace period data in LDAP and cache caused incorrect admin alerts. The system now syncs accurate data every 10 minutes or upon license re-activation.
