Zimbra’s CFO Selected as Finalist for CFO of the Year Award

By | October 30, 2013
I am proud to announce that Zimbra’s Chief Financial Officer, Kristin Reichert, was selected as a finalist for the 2013 Dallas Business Journal CFO of the Year Award. The award honors financial professionals in the Dallas metroplex for their leadership, contributions to the local community and outstanding performance in their roles as corporate financial stewards. With nearly 15 years of finance experience under her belt and deep enterprise and software expertise, Kristin continually pushes beyond the boundaries of the traditional CFO role. In addition to overseeing the financial numbers for Zimbra, Kristin is also a key strategic and operational member of the company. In true leadership fashion, she makes sure that she has a handle on the pulse of the operations and assists with making sure that everything aligns with the overall corporate strategy. Also, in addition to her day-to-day tasks, Kristin recently helped to successfully guide the company through a major acquisition and merger. As everyone knows, no acquisition is as simple as signing on the dotted line. A lot of hard work and preparation from Zimbra’s finance team, led by Kristin, took place to make sure this acquisition was a success.… Read more »

Project Always On

By | September 6, 2013
One of the projects we are working on at Zimbra is project "Always On". The goal is very simple: Email and collaboration should be "always on" for end users. It's no secret that email is the number one tool used for business collaboration. Project Always On solves key issues related to operating a platform built to be the central hub of collaboration delivered as a cloud service. Our Design Goals We started with some very basic design goals based on what we believe are the key attributes of a cloud service. Inherently resilient to failure Scaling should be elastic based on workload demands The software can be enhanced without service disruption Efficient usage of commodity hardware resources As we thought about these design goals, we arrived at a few technical capabilities and basic architectural requirements to achieve them. No single points of failure in the application components Separating the application code from the data Distributing state information across commodity storage Automatic failover of application and data storage components Automatic load balancing of client requests across the application and data layers How Zimbra is Changing There is so much of work that goes into re-architecting your software, so we've been doing this over several phases.… Read more »

By | July 24, 2013
It was a crazy first week at the new Telligent + Zimbra. I spent the week in Japan talking with some of our largest partners and customers. As we talked through our vision for a unified social collaboration suite (for which there is no Japanese translation), several questions came up. One we consistently heard was, “what about Zimbra.Next?” The Zimbra.Next release train has been rolling and there’s no stopping it now. We’ve made a commitment to our customers and partners and we have no intention on going back on that.… Read more »
